The dB's, Superchunk, Tift Merritt, Avett Brothers & more prep Record Store Day exclusive releases


Record Store Day is upon us once again this weekend, on Saturday, April 20. Local independent record stores will continue the great tradition of the day by stocking tons of great exclusive releases by bands big and small which always includes some treats from Triangle acts (and those with Triangle ties). Hopscotch 2012 Day 3: Megafaun, The dB's, Mount Moriah

One of the most talked about day parties of Hopscotch 2012 was the big Megafaun and Friends party in front of Mecca on Martin Street.

The dB's share two songs from new album, announce release show in Durham


Back in March we told you that North Carolina rock icons The dB's will release a new album on June 12 titled Falling Off the Sky. With the release date quickly approaching, they're giving away two fantastic songs from the album, "Before We Were Born" and "That Time is Gone." The Hopsoctch 2012 lineup is here with The Roots, Jesus & Mary Chain, Built To Spill & many more


One of the most anticipated annual local music announcements is the Hopscotch Music Festival lineup, and today is the day where we get to share it with you.

This year's lineup includes a whopping 175 acts. Influential rock bands The Jesus and Mary Chain and Built To Spill will play the City Plaza stage on Friday, September 7 and hip-hop superstars The Roots will headline on Saturday, September 8

The dB's to release 'Falling Off the Sky' in June


The highly anticipated new album from The dB's which we've mentioned for about a year is finally almost ready to see the light of day. The album, titled Falling Off the Sky, will be out on June 12 via Bar/None Records.

The album features the original lineup of Peter Holsapple, Chris Stamey, Gene Holder and Will Rigby and was produced by the band with some help from Mitch Easter and Scott Litt.
